Jumeira University observed Breast Cancer Awareness Day on 8 October 2026, bringing students and staff together to promote awareness, encourage preventive healthcare and highlight the importance of early breast cancer detection.
Held under the theme of awareness and prevention, the event combined an educational lecture, interactive activities, health screenings and opportunities for participants to learn more about maintaining their health and wellbeing.
Raising Awareness Through Education
The programme began at the University Auditorium with an awareness lecture titled “Together We Protect Ourselves,” presented by Dr. Madis. The session highlighted the importance of early detection, preventive measures and health awareness in supporting better health outcomes and quality of life.
Interactive competitions also formed part of the programme, encouraging participation and engagement with the awareness campaign.
Health Screenings and Educational Resources
Activities continued at the Females Cafeteria, where awareness kiosks hosted by external companies and organisations provided health-related information, services and educational resources.
Participants had access to a range of health services, including:
- BMI assessment
- Blood pressure and blood sugar tests
- Quantum health check-up
- Thermogram screening
- Breast examination and consultation
- Dental check-ups and consultations
- Distribution of dental care materials
Complimentary healthy snacks were also provided to attendees, reinforcing the importance of everyday habits that support overall wellbeing.
Creative Participation Through a Student Workshop
As part of the day’s activities, female students were invited to participate in a hands-on workshop led by Student Noof Hussein Alhaithami. Held in Room 13 of the Females Section, the session involved creating handmade pink flowers using pipe cleaners.
The activity offered students a creative way to participate in the awareness initiative while expressing support for the cause. Individual kits containing the required materials were provided to participants.
Promoting Awareness and Preventive Healthcare
Through its Breast Cancer Awareness Day activities, Jumeira University highlighted the value of health education, preventive care and community participation. The event provided students and staff with opportunities to access health information, learn about screening services and engage with an important health awareness initiative.
By bringing educational sessions, health services and interactive activities together, the University continued to encourage informed health choices and greater awareness of personal wellbeing.
