To celebrate the art of authentic writing, JU is hosting the Bilingual Essay Writing Challenge (Impromptu Edition), a unique academic activity designed to strengthen students’ writing skills in English and Arabic, while promoting bilingual literacy and intellectual expression.
This challenge encourages students to think on the spot, structure ideas effectively, and express themselves with clarity without any prior preparation.
Bilingual writing is a strategic skill in a global academic environment. It enhances:
- articulation of ideas
- language fluency
- cognitive flexibility
cultural and academic communication skills
By participating, students sharpen their writing under time pressure, build confidence, and develop stronger linguistic discipline, an essential asset for both academic coursework and real-world professional communication.
How it Works
- Students may choose to write either in English, Arabic, or both
- Essay topics will be provided on the spot
- English essays must be submitted via Moodle
- Arabic essays will be written on paper under invigilation
- The writing session is strictly 60 minutes
- Plagiarism or the use of AI tools will result in immediate disqualification
Awards & Recognition
The top three essays in each language category will be recognized and awarded Certificates of Achievement.
