Major General Khalifa Bin Dhaen Al Muhairi was born in Jumeira, Dubai. He joined the military when he was 14 years old and was the eighth person to join Dubai Police force. Proudly, he was the only officer who remained in service for over 50 years and has worked with all Dubai Police leaders since its inception in 1956.
Throughout his career Major General Khalifa showed a lot of courage and bravery. He is considered the Dean of the police, not only in Dubai, but also in all of the United Arab Emirates. Officers and dignitaries of all ranks call him “the father” because of his tremendous love and compassion to everyone.
Major General Khalifa found a time to be a first-class athlete and a poet. He hoped to help his community grow and develop, founding a charity to sponsor the needy. He often speaks of Jumeira, his place of birth. In the old days it comprised of small number of houses made of tents and palm fronds. Families used to know each other and people met every morning. He reassures us that relationships among people were plain and beautiful, something that people nowadays miss out on.
Following his retirement and his vision of the strong community, Major General Khalifa founded a University. It is an institution dedicated to knowledge empowerment and promoting individuality and community engagement, while maintaining and promoting the culture of the United Arab Emirates. With a blessing received from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Prime Minister and Vice President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, the University was named Jumeira University to honor the place where Major General Khalifa was born and raised.
