Entry Requirements

Jumeira University entry requirements according to applicant categories are as follows:

(a)   First Year Admission

(b)   Transfer Student Admission

(c)    Visiting Students Admission

(d)   Short Courses Admission

 

 (a)   First Year Admission:

a.1 Applicant who has high school diploma for less than 3 years:

1. UAE high school certificate and transcripts attested by the UAE Ministry of Education.

  • Education certificates from outside the UAE must be:
    1/ approved by the UAE Ministry of Education, and
    2/ attested by the UAE Embassy in the country were qualifications are obtained.
    3/ attested by the Embassy of that country in UAE.
  • Meet the program entry requirement for High School overall grade average.

1/For Business Studies is required score 70%.

2/For Islamic Studies Program required score is 70%.

3/ For Health care Management Program required score is 70%.

4/For Environmental Health Program required score is 70%.

5/For Early childhood Program required score is 70%.

2. Must be a UAE national or citizen of a GCC country, or hold a valid UAE residence.

3. Valid English Proficiency Score:

  • Business Administration Program
    • Entry Admission: TOEFL – 500 or above or IELTS (Academic) – 5 or Cambridge English: Advanced Test Score of 41.
    • Program Admission: TOEFL – 527 or above or IELTS (Academic) – 5.5 or Cambridge English: Advanced Test Score of 47.
  • BSc in Health care Management:
    • Entry Admission: TOEFL – 500 or above or IELTS (Academic) – 5 or Cambridge English: Advanced Test Score of 41.
    • Program Admission:  TOEFL – 527 or above or IELTS (Academic) – 5.5 or Cambridge English: Advanced Test Score of 47.
  • BSc in Environmental Health:
    • Entry Admission: TOEFL – 500 or above or IELTS (Academic) – 5 or Cambridge English: Advanced Test Score of 41.
    • Program Admission: TOEFL – 547 or above or IELTS (Academic) – 6 or Cambridge English: Advanced Test Score of 52.
  • B.ED in Early child hood:
    • Entry Admission: TOEFL – 500 or above or IELTS (Academic) – 5 or Cambridge English: Advanced Test Score of 41.
    • Program Admission TOEFL – 547 or above or IELTS (Academic) – 6 or Cambridge English: Advanced Test Score of 52.

5/ If the applicant does not have the required English Language Proficiency score, he/she is required to sit for the Jumeira University English Placement Test.

  • Note: If the students do not have the required English Language Proficiency score, they are required to sit for the Jumeira University English Placement Test. Based on their results; students will be enrolled in one of the 3 courses offered in English for Academic Studies Program: EAS 1, EAS 2 or EAS 3.
  • Students enrolled in English for Academic Studies Program are admitted at Freshman – Level 1. They will only be allowed to study 5 General Education Courses and will be able to progress to Freshman – Level 2 when they have obtained the required English Language Proficiency score tests in IELTS or TOEFL.  The General Education Courses students are allowed to take while Freshman Level 1 are: GE 101, GE 102, GE 105, GE 141, GE 171 or BU 100.

4. Submit proof documents as requested by the Admission office at the time of application that includes education and personal credentials and certificates.

5. Successful interview

a.2 Applicant who has high school diploma for more than 3 years and has relevant work experience:

1 to 5 as above, and

6. Submit updated Curriculum Vitae (Resume) and experience certificates.

a.3  Applicant who has high school diploma for more than 3 years and no work experience:

1 to 5 as above, and

6. Complete SAT I and score minimum of 360-400 in Mathematics, valid for six months from the time of application date.

(b)Transfer Student:

Transfer Students from Universities and Colleges within the UAE or abroad:

  1. Hold associate or diploma degree in a program from an accredited institution from the CAA (MOHESR) in UAE or recognized institution by MOHESR from abroad.
  2. Transfer students must be from an accredited university or college with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) not less than 2.0 on scale of 4.0. Transfer will be granted only from educational institutions that require the students to attend classes on a campus.
  3. Transfer students must submit Official Transcripts along with course description or syllables.
  4. Must be a UAE national or a resident, or a citizen of a GCC country.
  5. Valid English Proficiency Score:
  • Business Administration Program

  • B.ED in Early child hood:

    • Program Admission TOEFL – 547 or above or IELTS (Academic) – 6 or Cambridge English: Advanced Test Score of 52.
  1. Program courses considered for transfer must have been taught in the instructional language of the program at Jumeira University with the exception of some General Education courses.
  2. Submit proof documents as requested by the Admission Office at the time of application that include education and personal credential and certificates.
  3. Successful interview

(c)          Visiting Student:

Visiting Students from Universities and Colleges within the UAE or abroad:

Students attending another licensed or MOHESR recognized college or university may attend Jumeira University for one semester (and summer term) if the following conditions are met:

  1. The student has written permission for his/her home university to be enrolled at JU (indicating the course(s) to be registered for). The written permission should be from the Dean of the home university. And also sign a document indicating that s/he takes full responsibility regarding the transferability of the courses taken at JU;
  2. The student files an application from with JU, including his/her transcript from  the other institution, but does not need to file all of other usual documents;
  3. The student registers for classes approved by one of the department chairs in his /her respective college (and will need to bring his/her home transcripts with him/her so the advisor can recommend the appropriate courses;
  4. The student meets the various academic and course prerequisite requirements; and
  5. The student pays the tuition fees for the courses in which she has been approved to enroll, the admission fees, and the Registration fees.
  6. Language Proficiency of the selected course of study.

Note: If the student wishes to attend JU for more than one semester (and a summer term), s/he needs to apply for regular admission and submit all of the required paperwork and pay the admission and other transfer credit fees.

(d)         Short Courses Admission

 

Students which to enroll in one of short courses offered by the English Language Centre must submit:

 

  1. JU Admission Application Form.
  2. Academic Certificate Copies.
  3. Recent English Proficiency Score Test, or Set for JU English Placement Test
  4. Personal Statement outlining the purpose of study
